It's all a bit monochrome!
After last weeks post about cork I want to start with a bit of an update with how the board is going! Last week you saw the board built up with the multiple layers of cork and the bases cut out with a few of the bases sprayed in the Montana Gold 'Stealth'. This week I managed to dig out another half used can from my dwindling collection and get the last of the bases sprayed and the board to! In this case I used the 'Wolf Grey' colour primer from Army Painter, I can't for the life of my remember what I picked it for but it's finished now!
So following my lava tutorial, I needed to get the board and bases down to a black. I decided against using GW's black for this as I estimated I would need to use 12-15 pots to get a good coverage (costing me a small fortune!). So after looking at my options I settled on using emulsion for good coverage and I could buy cheap tester pots from Wilkinsons, I picked up two 'Supernova' blacks, and a 'Stormcloud', costing me a grand total of £3!
This took one main coat and a going over in the crevices with a smaller brush to ensure none of the wolf grey was showing though.
Once all of the black was thoroughly dry and the cork was thoroughly stuck back down (some of the cork had warped as the paint dried) I put the bases back into position ready for the dry-brushing of grey. I made a mix of about 2:5 black and grey, and with a large house brush, well dry-brushed the board using the same techniques as usual just over a larger area.
So that's my update for the week! What about you guys any progress for you?
See you next time from the table of a Plastic Addict!
